Cigna Recognizes COCC for Employee Well-Being for Second Consecutive Year

Southington, Conn. — For the second year in a row, COCC has earned a Cigna Well-Being Award. COCC was one of just four Connecticut companies to be recognized by Cigna as having an Honorable Culture of Well-Being, which rewards companies for the exceptional time, money and resources spent on employee well-being initiatives. This award highlights companies in various industries that change the workplace culture through leadership, organizational foundation, policy and environment, program implementation, and participation in employee health.

COCC stood out among competing companies thanks to a number of new physical and mental health initiatives. While COCC has previously offered onsite activities such as chair massages, wellness workshops, and our walking program, the switch to remote work earlier in 2020 required an adjustment in the wellness strategy. COCC has engaged employees with health apps such as Calm and Movespring to encourage its team members to stay active and connected with their coworkers and friends while working remotely.

“The events of this past year have made taking care of our employees’ well-being increasingly important,” commented Richard A. Leone, Chief Executive Officer of COCC. “We know that if people live well, they work well, so we have focused renewed energy and innovation on creative ways to maintain the positive mental health of our employees”.

COCC’s HR Total Rewards team as well as its new Wellness Committee continue to serve all COCC teams, highlighting health initiatives and programs to focus on employee well-being. The company partners with Cigna to offer an Employee Assistance Program as well as virtual telehealth options for doctors’ visits for regular care, behavioral and mental health. Just this past month, COCC organized a drive thru flu vaccine clinic which attracted a number of COCC employees and spouses. These initiatives, along with additional information to support employee well-being, are housed on a new, user-friendly internal wellness resources page.

In response to COCC’s rollout of the new wellness apps, one employee had this to say: “This app is so relaxing and just what I needed. Thank you for always trying to make things better for us.”
