COCC has been named the #1 Top Workplace in Connecticut in the large companies division for the second consecutive year. The Top Workplaces for 2024 were announced Tuesday, September 24 at a live, in-person event at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.

The Top Workplace Awards, presented annually by the Hartford Courant, recognize organizations based on the results of an anonymous employee survey and culture assessment. Employees evaluate aspects such as engagement, empowerment, appreciation, and leadership. This year, COCC received top marks for its strong corporate values, employee confidence in its leadership team, willingness to recommend the company, and commitment to employee well-being. Additionally, COCC was awarded the Values Award for achieving the highest scores in the statement, “I believe my company operates by strong values.”

This marks COCC’s third overall top placement and second year at #1 in the large companies division, which includes businesses with over 500 employees. Notably, COCC is one of the few companies to have appeared on the Top 10 list every year since the program’s inception in 2011 and is the only large company to have maintained a spot on the list for 14 consecutive years.

“The reporting we have received from this survey over the past 14 years has been pivotal to our continued success as one of Connecticut’s premier employers,” said Richard A. Leone, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President at COCC. “We are incredibly proud of our achievements in the Top Workplace program, and it’s truly made possible by our talented and dedicated employees and the feedback they provide about what they need to be successful at work.”

Driven by the valuable employee feedback from these surveys, COCC continuously enhances employee perks, benefits, and overall engagement culture. Initiatives include flexible hybrid work options, lifestyle spending accounts, one paid wellness day each quarter, and more. Our company also prioritizes competitive compensation and rewards programs designed to attract and retain top talent. By offering comprehensive salary packages and performance-based incentives, COCC ensures that employees feel valued and motivated to excel in their roles.

COCC continues to be dedicated to fostering a fulfilled and engaged workforce through innovative and supportive strategies. Local employees enjoy a range of onsite perks, from complimentary snacks and beverages to happy hours and holiday events. Meanwhile, remote team members can participate in virtual events like cooking and tasting classes, arts and crafts workshops, and virtual escape rooms.

Inclusivity and belonging are also at the heart of the culture. COCC hosts several employee resource groups that unite individuals based on shared characteristics or life experiences, along with allies who support and advocate for these communities. COCC is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and connected.

“Our focus on belonging ensures that every employee can find something at COCC that drives and empowers them,” said Mr. Leone. “Our continued placement as a Top Workplace in Connecticut allows us to attract and retain the best talent while providing the best workplace experience for all employees, no matter who they are or where they work.”
